It’s almost the end of January and, for many of us, a busy and productive month. You may have made some new years resolutions that could now be broken or reaffirmed. We had some attempts at Veganuary, dry January, reading more and for some of us, it was about learning more. One thing we’d suggest you do this year, is attend more marketing events.
BURN’s pick of marketing events for 2018
It’s often very tempting to shy away from networking events or conferences but pushing yourself to try something new and expanding your horizons by meeting others is always a step worth taking. So take a look at our recommended events (in chronological order) for the year and our tips for making the most of them.

Are you based in South West London? You might work for one of the many great companies in the area. Thursday 2 February brings the next Swilicon event. Come along to meet entrepreneurs, technologists and creatives. This networking event is co-run by Talent Cupboard and BURN who generously get a few rounds in! This Thursday… see you there.
Marketing Week Live
When: Wednesday 7 – Thursday 8 March
Where: Olympia West, London
How much? Free or £125 (you have to qualify)
Marketing Week Live provides marketing ideas, inspiration, tools and tactics. Past speakers have included the BBC, Disney, Microsoft, Sky and Unilever so we expect this to be well worth attending to hear how the latest and greatest do their thing.
Internet Retailing Expo
When: Wednesday 21 March
Where: NEC Birmingham
How much? Free!
Some of the industry’s big players attend this event, including Amazon, ASDA and John Lewis. It’s now one of the largest get-togethers for multichannel retail professionals. Turn up for great networking opportunities and discover a very wide range of solutions in the multichannel industry, all in one place.
When: Saturday 28 April
Where: Brighton Centre, King Place, Brighton
How much? £125 + VAT (free to IDM/DMA members)
Highly recommended always by those in the industry. If SEO is big for you, this event is a must.
When: Thursday 19 July
Where: Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London
How much: £295
“It’s bringing together investors, startups and entrepreneurs all in one place” Google
Unbound estimates that this year more than 5,000 founders, entrepreneurs, investors, corporate & brand executives and opinion-formers will attend the Old Truman Brewery, Shoreditch. Truly cross-industry, Unbound London welcomes business and the world’s digital and technological leaders. BURN visited last year and wrote a blog about it, which you can read here.
